IQ-1500R-LnX Plateamp

IQ-1500R-LnX Plateamp

The IQ-LnX Engineering build subvariant is the Swan song of the now venerable IQ platform subwoofer plate amp.

Originally introduced in 2005 to be the beat all do all subwoofer amplifier and the performance core of the SuperNova MKVI subwoofer family. To our knowledge the IQ-600/1500 is the longest continually produced subwoofer plate amp in audio history.

In a time of constantly changing fads and half-baked, lightening in a bottle designs, this is a great testament to the quality and performance of the original design. While there has been many circuitry upgrades and revisions over the years, the basic layout and functionality has remained the same.

The LnX moniker stands for Low Noise eXperiment  and improves the amplifiers signal to noise ratio and all but eliminates background hum and noise. This is primarily achieved by eliminating the analog pot based  variable crossover  and adding additional shielding to the circuitry along with carefully positioned suppression capacitors.

While an important feature in the mid two-thousands, analog pot based crossovers has long since been obsoleted by the appearance of digital crossovers in receivers and can now be eliminated without affecting 95 percent of modern use-cases.
